New Delhi, Sep 21 (PTI) A senior BSNL official, who was caught taking a nap during the meeting of Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, has taken voluntary retirement (VRS).

The official took a nap at the Vaishnav meeting after the Cabinet approved a Rs 1.64 lakh crore package for the public sector enterprise.

In the first week of August, the all India Chief General Manager (CGM) level meeting had asked BSNL employees to perform well and turn around the company in two years or opt for VRS.

“In the meeting, the minister caught a CGM taking a nap and asked him to immediately take VRS out of the room. Today his VRS was approved.

The officer was working as Quality Assurance and Inspection (CGM) in Bengaluru. In this regard, emails sent to the Telecom Ministry and BSNL did not get any response till writing the news.
