A message is circulating on WhatsApp claiming that the DA of central employees has been increased.

New Delhi:A message is circulating on WhatsApp. It is being claimed that the government has increased the dearness allowance ie DA of central employees. It has been increased by four per cent and now it has increased from 34 per cent to 38 per cent. It has been claimed that the central employees will get the increased DA from July 1, 2022. That is, they will be given arrears of three months. It has been claimed in this message that the Department of Expenditure has issued this order on 20 September. But the government says that this message is fake and no such order has been issued by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

The government fixes the DA of its employees twice a year on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). DA revises in January and July. The DA was increased by three per cent from January, after which it was increased to 34 per cent. In view of inflation, it is believed that the government can increase it by four percent. This will benefit 1.16 crore central employees and pensioners. Retail inflation reached an eight-year record in April. The government increases DA to give relief to its employees from inflation. AICPI is expected to remain above 126 in April, May and June. It was 125.1 and 125 in January and February while it reached 126 in March. Now if it remains at this level, then the DA of central employees may increase by four percent.

how much will the salary increase
At present, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 1,8000, then he gets DA of Rs 6,120 at the rate of 34 per cent. If the DA becomes 38 percent, then the employee will get Rs 6840 as dearness allowance. That is, he will get Rs 720 more. The central government has not paid DA to its employees for 18 months i.e. between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Employees have been demanding its payment for a long time.

The increase in DA also increases the PF and gratuity contribution of the employee. The reason for this is that it is deducted from the basic salary and DA of the employee. Increasing DA also paves the way for increase in transport allowance and city allowance of employees. There are also reports in the media that the government is planning to increase the HRA of central employees as well. At present, the employees are getting 27%, 18% and 9% HRA. It is given on the basis of urban, semi urban and rural sector.
